Why is MA doing this testing?
Why should you participate?
Massachusetts has $147 million in funding available to build more broadband internet infrastructure. Unfortunately, the money will be distributed based mostly on self-reported speed data from our big internet monopoly!
This is Cape Cod's chance to challenge their data, give Massachusetts the truth, and redirect funds to Cape Cod.
Speak up today!
All residents and businesses are welcome - it takes three (3) short speed tests from the same location to qualify.
For your data to qualify you must take three (3) speed tests in a 30 day period (you can take more if you want). To challenge the data in your census block group we must document at least 6 locations in your census block group that don't meet the minimum of 100 mbps download and 20 mbps upload - CHALLENGE your neighbors to TEST!
Here are some simple testing guidelines to ensure you document service issues:
- Plan your testing around busy evenings, weather impacts, or weekends. Your speed test data should aim to document the inadequate connectivity the Cape experiences during our busiest summer days (when we have lots and lots of visitors).
- If possible, connect your device directly to your router or be as close as possible to your device if you are connected wirelessly.
- Submit a copy or portion of your internet service bill that shows three (3) distinct elements:
A. Service Address
B. Date of Bill
C. Service Level.
(You DO NOT have to include your entire bill - more specific details below) - Data tests WITHOUT billing information WILL NOT BE COUNTED!
Copies or images of your bill with the address, date, and service level can be emailed to submit@fixcapeinternet.com and the address will be matched to your speed test address.
For your speed test data to be accepted by Massachusetts you MUST include a copy of your bill or images of your bill that show service address, date of bill, and level of service.
Your bill can be documented by doing either of the following:
- Downloading a .pdf of your bill and email it to submit@fixcapeinternet.com.
OR - Use your phone to take pictures of the key parts of your physical bill and send them to submit@fixcapeinternet.com. Be sure the images show:
- Service Address (Address must match your speed test location)
- Date of Bill (Recent bills are preferred)
- Level of Service (Speed that you are paying for)
